How are these resolutions going?
So January has been here for almost four weeks now. Remember when we started with all of our New Year’s resolutions and all the changes we were going to make this year? Somewhere on my list, I had my “favorite” part and this is the I want to get fit again so I quit the gym. SAY WHAT?!? You might think well this isn’t the most logical thing to do if you want to get fit again but I have a very good reason. I realized that at this point I was sponsoring the place these last two years and when I checked my gym app it said I went 11 times in 365 days. I paid 29 Euros each month to not go. As if the world isn’t expensive enough. I do hope they got some good equipment due to my sponsoring them and never showing up.
Reasons I don’t like going to the gym.
1: It was taking too much time for me to go home, get my stuff and then leave the house again. I am that person who puts a little gloss on her lips and checks to see if I look alright to be amongst these gym people and not scare them. Plus I am an insecure as hell and always feel like everybody is looking at me and not because they think I am hot or anything. This makes me nervous so I need to look ok before I set foot in the gym.
2. I love either getting out of bed looking like crap, getting my workout in and showering, or getting out of work looking like crap (cause really why do we look like crap when we get out of work. I look lovely when I leave the house but anyway that’s another topic) and get my workout in and shower.
3. I never know what to do with the equipment in the gym besides the cardio stuff. I look like an idiot and I feel like everybody is looking at me looking at the equipment. It’s an embarrassing moment for all of us.
4. The bonus reason and basically the only reason I should have written down. I don’t like to leave my house once I am inside my house. Let’s just call it what it is and that’s that my ass is lazy!
So what’s my plan?
Better Me app
I have noticed that my clothes are getting a bit tighter these days so I want to nip it in the bud as they say. I have started with intermitted fasting. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and the first 3 days were HELL!!! I was so used to eating something (nothing healthy of course) in the evening whilst watching everything and nothing on tv after work. I am doing the stop eating crap at 20.00 and I start eating again (healthy) at 12.00 the next day. I have to say it gets easier and easier. The only time it’s a bit hard is during the weekend because I am at home all day and I just want to eat and enjoy my weekend. I am thinking about doing this 6 days a week instead of 7. I will skip the intermitted fasting on Saturday because that is my longest day at home and life needs to be fun too and food is fun! I am using an app called Better Me which tells me when to work out, drink my water, and tells me when I can eat again. I know this might not be for everybody but I need something to remind me to be consistent otherwise these clothes are going to get tighter and tighter.
Workout apps and YouTube
As I said in the previous paragraph the app Better Me has workouts that you can do if you are a beginner to “you want to die from doing this workout but get the best body ever” I am of course doing the beginner part because I am not there yet to do the I want to die level hahaha but we’ll get there hopefully one day. As many of you may know and if you didn’t the title says it all..I DON’T like working out!!! I start and I quit! I have to literally drag myself to do it. I have found a way to “enjoy” this whole sweating to get a great body by doing workouts that don’t feel like workouts. I will list a few of my favorite channels and you can go check them out if you want to of course and see if maybe one or two will fit your lifestyle.
https://www.youtube.com/@tarasbody This one is one of my faves. It is in French so you get to work out and learn French hahaha. She teaches you all these dances but while you are doing all of these moves you are also doing a full body workout. I love to dance so this is a win-win situation.
https://www.youtube.com/@Mrandmrsmuscle These workouts are sometimes short and sweet but once you get fitter they also have longer workouts. They have workouts with and without equipment so you can do them in your own living room. One of my faves is their abs workout but standing up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AEfmDJkuMg
https://www.youtube.com/@growwithjo Her channel is also so much fun. It’s also at-home friendly.
Why am I sharing this?
I am hoping that by posting this that maybe some of you will join me in this getting fitter lifestyle. Roll in our hotter and fitter bodies in Summer 23. Maybe we can keep each other accountable by checking in from time to time how many times a week we actually did a workout. I absolutely know that life can sometimes get in the way and that we can’t reach our goals every week but let’s be proud of ourselves if we at least do one workout a week.
At the moment I am working out 3x a week and eating healthier. To make my life easier I have all my working out stuff in my living room behind my couch. This way I have zero excuses. The stuff is there so no sitting on the couch before I have at least moved my body for at least 45 minutes to an hour. The only things I have to get upstairs are my workout clothes and it’s GO!!! I will let you know at the end of February how well this goal is going and if I am being consistent. Another thing before I stop writing is that I am not just doing this for a “hotter” body (this is a bonus of course) but I am also doing it to get fitter because once you get to 45 just getting up hurts..LOL so I need to get healthier.
Let me know if you are going to use one of these channels and how you liked them. Maybe working out at home is not your thing and that’s ok too of course. 🙂 We’ll keep each other posted.
Talk to you next week 🙂
